ABOUT US
The Wagon Yard BBQ restaurant is the product of Rich and Donna Schmidt’s vision of bringing Texas-Style barbeque to the McKenzie Valley in Oregon. I mean, what makes more sense than serving the best food in the world in the most beautiful scenery in the world? When we moved to the McKenzie Valley from Austin, Texas in 1990, it was not the right time to open our restaurant. It took 15 years of the Food Network to create enough awareness of the fine art of BBQ, to make a “joint” successful here. We can’t help but feel that when you sit out on our patio and watch the sunset over the mountains, while enjoying a plate of our smok’n hot ribs, that our vision has truly become a reality.
We were on KEZI 9
KEZI 9 video
Check out Rich and Shawn on the KEZI 9 5pm news last night (Monday June 28 2010) They did a fabulous job. The Wagon Yard wowed the crew with baby back ribs, brisket and a sampling of our other meats. Rich did a nice demonstration of how the meat should look when slow smoked and showed the proper way to cut Baby Backs. Good job boys.

Hay, We had some special guests visit the Wagon Yard and we wanted tell everyone about it. Sloppy Tiger from Ms. Irwin’s first grade class and a few of her students have stopped in. Sloppy Tiger came in with Ben Thompson and had a great time.
He had a chat with the owner (Ben’s Grandpa.)
Then he checked out the great kids menu with Ben
…and snuck into the back to check out the ribs.
We had to hustle him out because tigers aren’t allowed behind the counter unless they wear a hair net. We had a great time visiting with Ben and Sloppy Tiger and we love to meet Sloppy’s friends. Please be sure to let us know you are Sloppy Tiger’s friend when you stop in. If our photographer is in, we will take your photo and put it up here for you to check out. Just click the comments to see who has visited us so far.
